Conference Rules

International scientific conference of students and young scientists «Lomonosov» takes place annually in Lomonosov Moscow State University within the framework of the International scientific youth forum «Lomonosov». The cochairmen of the organizing committee of the forum "Lomonosov-2018" are the rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Academic Victor Antonovich Sadovnichiy and the Minister of science and education of the Russian Federation Olga Yurevna Vasilyeva.

The main aims of the conference are development of the creativity of undergraduates, postgraduates and young scientists, their incorporation in the search for solutions to the challenges of modern science, development and maintenance of a common international scientific and educational space, as well as the establishment of contacts between future colleagues.

Organisation of the conference

The conference’s organizing committee monitors the general issues of preparation and holding of the conference. The work of the sections (the means and methods of the screening process, organization of sessions of different sections, the presence of experts during sessions) is supervised by the representatives of the sections and the organizing committees of these sections. The executive secretary of the conference and the executive secretaries of the sections serve as a liaison between the organizing committee of the conference and the organizing committees of the sections. The executive secretary of the conference coordinates the work of the executive secretaries of the sections. Organizing committees and executive secretaries of the sections are chosen by Deans of the faculties and approved by the organizing committee of the conference.

The organizing committee of the conference has the right to adjust the work of the organizing committees of individual sections, evaluate it and bring the assessment to the attention of the administrations of the faculties.

The representatives of the organizing committee of the sections must attend meetings in preparation for the conference, timely inform administrations of different faculties of received information about the conference, promptly report to the representatives of the organizing committee of the conference on the preparation work in their section, timely and correctly answer questions of participants by email or during the forum.

Participation in the Conference

Students (specialists, bachelors and masters), postgraduate students and young scientists from any country in the world under the age of 35 —students and staff of Russian and foreign universities, postgraduates and staff of academic institutions can participate in the conference.

Aspirants, lecturers and assistant professors are considered young scientists. Candidates of science under the age of 35 can participate within the framework of separate subsections provided that the decision is made by the organizing committees of the respective sections. Professors and doctors of science can’t participate in the conference even if they are younger than 36 years old.

In case the research is done in co-authorship, each of the co-authors must meet the specified requirements for participation in the conference.

Co-authorship with research supervisor is not allowed, but you can give credits to him/her. The permitted number of co-authors is determined by the organizing committee of a particular section.

The recommendation of your research supervisor or your department is not required for participation in the conference, however, when filling out the application, the contacts of the supervisor should be indicated: if any questions arise, experts may contact him.

A participant can submit a maximum of one scientific research. The number of participants from a single university, faculty or department is unlimited.

The scientific research can be performed in Russian or English; research performed in other languages is not considered. The use of English should be reasonable. Abstracts containing a large number of grammatical errors are not considered.

Forms of participation (report, poster presentation, round table) are determined by the organizing committees of the sections; participants should be notified of the form of their participation in advance.

There is no remote participation in the conference.

Communication of the conference participants with the organizing committee of the sections and the organizing committee of the conference is carried out via e-mail and forum.

Applications for participation are submitted electronically through the registration system on the site lomonosov-msu.ru within the deadline set by the organizing committee of the conference. If an application is submitted in any another form or if it does not meet the deadline, it will not be considered.

Participation in the conference is on a competitive basis. The selection procedure is determined by the organizing committees of the respective section. The scientific researches are not reviewed, the reasons for the refusal are not reported.

The organizing committee does not pay travel and accommodation costs for participants. For the duration of the conference, only specially invited participants selected based on the recommendations of the organizing committees of the sections receive free accommodation in the dormitory.

Abstract Formatting Guidelines are determined by the organizing committees of the sections. Abstract formatting requirements are posted on the pages with information about the sections. Abstracts that do not meet the requirements are not considered.

Publication of the abstracts is carried out electronically; the publication of abstracts collections is carried out by the organizing committees of the sections.

Following up on the sessions, participants with the best reports are awarded with certificates and prizes. They will also get to publish their articles in the collection of the best reports of the Lomonosov conference. Selection of participants is carried out by the organizing committees of the sections and the results are published on the conference website. The organizing committees of the sections may also establish sectional awards for the best reports.

The organizing committee of the conference is responsible for preparing the general cultural program during the opening and closing days of the conference. The cultural and scientific programs which take place during the working days of the sections is organized by the organizing committees of the sections.
