The Electronic Cultural Atlas Initiative (ECAI) will hold the 3rd Congress of Cultural Atlases at the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. The Congress invites a broad call of participation from individuals, groups and institutions involved in or interested in the creation of digital cultural atlases and their component parts. The Congress will include papers and panels on:
- Digital Cultural Atlases: projects and prototypes
- Cultural Atlas Components: gazetteers, time-periods, biography and social networks, thesauri, technical infrastructure, content sources and display models
- Spatial Data in the Humanities
- Visualization in the Humanities
- Digital deluge: Humanities e-Science and e-resource management
Also planned are workshops on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Virtual Reality (VR), and Humanities Computing in the 21st Century: The Electronic Cultural Atlas Vision
ECAI is a research centre at the Institute of Area Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
The membership of ECAI is composed of some 700 affiliates from more than 30 nations.
To participate in the Congress you should fill in the
registration form.
We also invite you to submit abstracts for individual papers and poster/demo
presentations. Abstracts should be 250-300 words.
Panel proposals should include 3-4 papers, and the name of a chair, discussant,
and contact person. Please submit ECAI proposals directly to
Kimberly Carl.
The deadline for submitting is 10 March, 2007.
